Difficulty accessing web pages

If you are having difficulty accessing webpages, then use the following instructions (dependant on your operating system) to enter the Domain Name Server addresses for your internet service. If this fails to resolve the issue, please contact 01482 300040 and choose option 1 for internet and email faults.

Windows XP

  • Select Start menu, then Control Panel
  • If in Classic View: Open Network Connections
  • If in Category View: Select Network and Internet Connections, then select Network Connections
  • Open Local Area Connection
  • Select Properties
  • Highlight Internet Protocol (TCP/IP) and select Properties
  • Select Obtain an IP address automatically (probably already set)
  • Select Use the following DNS server addresses
  • In Preferred DNS Server enter 212.50.160.100
  • In Alternate DNS Server enter 213.249.130.100
  • Select OK
  • Select OK
  • Select Close
  • Close

Windows 2000

  • Select Start menu, then Settings, then Control Panel
  • Open Network and Dial-up Connections
  • Open Local Area Connection
  • Select Properties
  • Highlight Internet Protocol (TCP/IP) and select Properties
  • Select Obtain an IP address automatically (probably already set)
  • Select Use the following DNS server addresses
  • In Preferred DNS Server enter 212.50.160.100
  • In Alternate DNS Server enter 213.249.130.100
  • Select OK
  • Select OK
  • Select Close
  • Close

Windows 95 and 98

  • Select Start menu, then Settings, then Control Panel
  • Open Network
  • Highlight TCP/IP and select Properties
  • (IP Address tab will be showing)
  • Select Obtain an IP address automatically (probably already set)
  • Select DNS Configuration tab
  • Select Enable DNS
  • In DNS Server Search Order box enter 212.50.160.100, then select Add
  • Then enter 213.249.130.100, then select Add (addresses are listed as they are added)
  • Select OK
  • Select OK
  • Close

MAC OS 9.x

  • Select APPLE icon on top left corner
  • Under Control Panels, select TCP/IP
  • In TCP/IP window, under NAME SERVER ADDR, enter DNS server addresses 212.50.160.100 and 213.249.130.100
  • Select Enter after each address
  • Select Close and then Save

MAC OS X

  • Select APPLE icon on top left corner
  • Select System Preferences
  • Under System Preferences, select Network
  • Under Network, select Configure from bottom of window
  • In Configuration screen, ensure you have Built in Ethernet selected in Show drop down
  • In Domain Name Servers box, enter DNS server addresses 212.50.160.100 and 213.249.130.100 and select Enter after each address
  • Select Apply at bottom of screen and close all windows
