This is the biggest tank you’ll see at The Deep and definitely worth the wait. It is 10 metres deep and holds a massive 2.5 million litres of water and took 87 tonnes of salt to get the right salinity for the fantastic animals living in it.
Living in there you’ll find:
Sand Tiger sharks – it’s really easy to spot these huge specimens. They have a pointed face and open mouth with hundreds of teeth showing.
Nurse sharks - as well as being very big, they are a browny colour with a flattish head. You can usually spot them resting in front of the first big window.
Potato Cod – this is a big grey fish with dark grey spots on and can grow to the size of a VW Beetle car! He looks like he is very grumpy because his mouth turns down at the corners.
Green Sawfish – these fantastic animals are often seen at the very bottom of the tank. You’ll spot them easily, they have long toothy snouts which they sway from side to side as they swim.
