How can I order my PC Backup service?
You can order PC Backup online. Simply select the package you require. A free 500MB option is available for up to 30 days. Although we take payment details from you, if you do not upgrade to either the 5GB or 20GB service, before 30 days, your PC Backup account is deleted. No payments are taken unless you upgrade your service.
What do I need to install the PC Backup software?
You need the following minimum PC Requirements:
- Windows Operating System on your PC: ME, 2000, 2003 or XP
- PC Memory: 256MB
- PC Disk Space: 130MB
- Administrator rights on the PC
- A broadband connection
Please note that if this software is installed on PC’s with multiple users, each user can access the other users files.
How do I install the backup software?
Once you have ordered the online PC Backup service we will send you an email with a link to download the PC Backup software and installation instructions. We may not send you an email straight away as we need to build your account on our server. You choose your PC Backup password when you order the service. Please note this password is case sensitive so check whether you have your Caps Lock button on or off on your keyboard. The email will contain your login name which is in UPPERCASE.
How long does it take to backup files?
The speed of the backup depends on the upstream speed of your connection. The service can be used on broadband connections.
Please note that the initial backup of your files will take the longest. We recommend that you start an initial backup at the end of the day and leave this to run overnight, so that all your files can be transferred. Your files can only transfer as fast as your upload speed that your broadband service is capable of.
After your initial backup is complete the software uses a technique called Incremental Backup, which means it only backups up changes you’ve made to your files since you last backup. The Backup storage holds different versions of your backed up files, so if you need to restore an earlier version of a file, you can do this.
How do I upgrade from a free trial to the 5GB or 20GB service?
To upgrade simply login to my-kc here, and enter your registered email address and the password you chose when ordering the service. You can the select the PC Backup Manager to upgrade your service.
